Vulcan Trek Home to CB9 Business Award

The CB9 Business Awards 2008 took place recently at Chilford Hall, Linton. The awards, organised by the Haverhill Chamber of Commerce, are a celebration of the business excellence and innovation that exists in the area.
This glamorous black tie occasion showcases the diversity of businesses that already exist in Haverhill and its environs. Haverhill Business Park sponsored the Small Business Award which was won by Vulcan Service & Service Co Ltd who provide engineering supplies, metal fabrication, tool hire and vehicle hire to a predominately industrial and commercial customer base.
The Park's developer, Simon White, who presented the award to Steve Oakley from Vulcan Supply & Service Co Ltd, said "We are delighted to sponsor the Small Business Award for the second time. We recognise the importance of small businesses, not just in Haverhill but the United Kingdom as a whole. We hope the award encourages Vulcan to further develop and grow their business with the support of the Haverhill business community behind them."
The Small Business Award was open to any company that employs no more than 25 full time employees. The judges were looking for a business that had shown innovation and success in its market sector and they felt Vulcan was particularly strong in this area.
Vulcan Service & Supply Co Ltd was established on the 1st August 1994, starting out as a one man operation being run from a Portacabin in rented space in the corner of someone else's factory. Fourteen years later they operate from 25,000 sq ft premises on the Boundary Road Industrial Estate in Haverhill.
Steve Oakley from Vulcan Supply & Service Co Ltd, comments "I am very proud that Vulcan has won this award, it is recognition of what our team has achieved over the years. Whilst the company has grown and diversified we have retained our entrepreneurial spirit. By responding to market opportunities we have built a solid business supplying products and services that people want to buy. Our long term vision for the company is further growth, so we are delighted with the continuing investment and development of Haverhill. The more companies there are in the town the more potential there is for our businesses to grow."
At Haverhill Business Park, there remains a further 26 acres of land that can be developed and buildings are available from 5,000 sq ft up to a massive 211,500 sq ft. Agents for the site are Cambridge based Carter Jonas and London based Rumsey & Partners.
